Methane hydrate

Methane hydrate is a clathrate compound of water and methane. It can be used to store and transport natural gas. It resembles snow and it is flammable.

Why are we doing this project?

Developing the scientific and technical foundations for producing and degassing methane hydrate will offer another option for transporting and storing natural gas. Furthermore, hydrate can be used to remove gas impurities. Methane hydrate is a substance similar to ice (snow) that can burn.

The tasks we solve

  • Icon search for optimal conditions for obtaining hydrate
  • Icon development of methods for obtaining hydrate and its regasification

Results obtained

A hydrate formation reactor based on water spraying by a nozzle has been created
A hydrate formation reactor with methane bubbling through a layer of water (solution) has been created
A hydrate formation reactor with steam condensation on a cold surface has been created.
A hydrate formation reactor was created based on mixing the initial reagents
