Biofuels

Biofuels are CO2-neutral fuels, as their combustion produces the same amount of CO2 as the amount produced when they were produced.

Why are we doing this project?

To increase the competitiveness of biofuels, we are working to reduce costs and waste in the biofuel production process, as well as to improve the quality of the resulting biofuels. We are developing hydrothermal liquefaction/carbonization technologies for biomass and organic waste. This method allows for the processing of wet biomass, including organic waste, into biofuel (biochar, bio-oil) without prior drying, which significantly increases the energy efficiency of the method.

The tasks we solve

  • Icon development of technologies for the thermochemical conversion of biomass and waste into biofuels
  • Icon research of biofuel properties
  • Icon development of methods for processing biofuels

Results obtained

A plant for converting biomass and waste into biofuels (bio-oil and biochar) has been created
A bio-oil distillation plant has been created
Biochar samples were obtained and analyzed
Bio-oil samples were obtained and analyzed
